New Ph.D. Student Orientation 2016
On Monday, August 15, 2016, Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College hosted a day of orientation activities for incoming Ph.D. students in the Learning, Literacies, and Technologies (LLT) and Educational Policy and Evaluation (EPE) programs. We were pleased to welcome Christiana Bruchok, Hyeonho Yu, Jorge Sandoval, Kevin Close, Megan Troxel, Nicole Bowers, Shannon Mulhearn , Stephanie Reid, and Timothy Wells into the LLT program, as well as Byoung-gyu Gong, Dawn Demps, Emeka Ikegwuonu , Sarah Salinas, and Stephan Santa-Ramirez into the EPE program.
TCDC President Dani Kachorsky opened the day with welcoming remarks, and Professor Sherman Dorn, Division Director of Educational Leadership and Policy at MLFTC provided words of guidance, along with the David Carlson, Admissions Chair of the LLT Program. Tara Burke, primary organizer of the event, led the new students on a mini-tour of local campus resources, while current Ph.D. students Angelique Aitken, Evelyn Baca, Katy Chapman, Kewman Lee, Rolando Robles, and Kevin Winn shared their perspectives on doctoral student life in a panel discussion moderated by TCDC officer Earl Aguilera.
The day’s events cultivated in an informal meet-and-greet session well-attended by current students, faculty, and staff.
Overall, the day was met with great enthusiasm from all participants, and TCDC would like to thank all students, faculty, and staff who participated, and Academic Advisor Tara Burke for her tireless efforts in supporting all of our students throughout their development in our doctoral programs!
